KS Members lead OSU past Purdue
It's 1968 at the OSU vs. Purdue football game. Purdue beats OSU 35 to 7 the year before and are rated #1 coming into the game. I'm sitting with my brothers after "serious training" at the Varsity Club. The game is tense and there is no score.

The Roommate Switch
Thank you to John Pierce '70 for answering our recent call for memories.

He writes, "Back in 1966-67, Gordon Shuler and I live in a 4 man dorm room.  At that time, we were pledges for Kappa Sigma. One of our roommates, Jim, was more than irritating.  For kicks, he would throw .22 cal bullets out of our 9th floor dorm room, and laugh when they exploded; never giving a care about where the projectile was headed.  After about a quarter of putting up with Jim's antics, he decided to take action.  Jim happened to depart on Christmas break a day earlier than the rest of us. On the day Jim departed, Gordon sought out the resident advisor (RA), and advised him that Jim wanted to switch rooms.  Gordon was so convincing, the RA had us move Jim's belongings that day.  When the new term began and Jim showed up, Gordon diplomatically advised him that the guys down the hall had name requested Jim to fill a vacancy in their room.  I don't recall if Jim was stunned or happy. I do recall that we never saw Jim in our room again.  I suspect this was one of the early indicators that Gordon was destined to become an attorney.

Support the Annual Fund
For many of us, the bonds we formed at Kappa Sigma grew into connections that make life more meaningful today. Many of us have no closer friends than those we made back then.  Some of us got first job or reference from a brother, others have made great business connections through brothers. Some were our groomsmen or godfathers to our kids.  Add to that the lessons we learned as a result of our association with the fraternity.  These have helped to lay a foundation for the successes we have experienced in our personal and professional careers.

Remember that our annual fund relies on support from our alumni brotherhood, and every donor makes a big difference. We can’t continue our program without you.
